Lane H. Powell, Ph.D., CFLE

Lane H. Powell has been an administrator and professor in Human Development and Family Studies for more than 20 years. She is a Certified Family Life Educator, a licensed professional counselor, and currently, Assistant Chair of the Department of HDFS, Texas Tech University, Lubbock. Powell received her PH.D., from Texas Tech University with a major emphasis in program design and evaluation. She is the author of three other books: To Listen, To Love (1984); Holding Out for True Love (1995, 1996); and Readings in Personal Wholeness (1996). Her research interests include sexuality education programming for youth and parents as well as marriage enrichment and education. Powell and her husband, Bob, have three adult children: Steve, Sharon, and Jim.

Dawn Cassidy, M.Ed., CFLE

 

Dawn Cassidy, a Certified Family Life Educator, is the Certification Director for the National Council on Family Relations where she administers the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) program. She has a M.Ed. in Work, Family, and Community Education from the University of Minnesota. She served as a parent facilitator for the MELD program for two years and as a member of the Southwest Family Room Collaborative Council, a United Way community resource program for families with young children. As a member of the Ethics Committee of the Minnesota Council on Family Relations, she was involved in developing guidelines for ethical thinking and practice for parent and family educators. Cassidy lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with her husband, Tom and her two children, Hamil and Elaina.

Carol Anderson Darling, Ph.D., CFLE

 

Carol Anderson Darling, a Certified Family Life Educator, is the Margaret Sandels Professor of Human Sciences and a Distinguished Teaching Professor at Florida State University where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Family and Child Sciences.  She has a Ph.D. in Family Ecology from Michigan State University.  She has been involved with the Certified Family Life Educator Program since its inception and is the past president of the National Council on Family Relations. Twice she has been a Fulbright Scholar in teaching and research at the University of Helsinki and is currently a Docent in Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Helsinki. She has also taught and given educational presentations in various locations in Finland, Costa Rica, Taiwan, and South Korea.  Her teaching and research interests include family stress, family life education, sexuality education, and multicultural education, as well as international initiatives in family life education.

Nancy Gonzalez, M.Ed., CFLE

 

Nancy Gonzalez is Program Director for Public Policy, Collegiate and Media Relations at the National Council on Family Relations.  She holds a M.Ed. in Family Education from the University of Minnesota, the Certified Family Life Educator credential, and she is a Minnesota state licensed Parent and Family Educator.  She teaches Family Law and Public Policy at Concordia University-St. Paul on an adjunct basis. She loves writing and editing;  she is a published humorist and edits the quarterly NCFR Report newsletter. She and husband George are parents of Eric Gonzalez, a college freshman.
